Rock Valley roundup: Evansville/Albany tops McFarland
Evansville/Albany’s Matt Sperry threw four touchdown passes to Isaiah Shell to lead the Blue Devils to a 31-14 upset over host McFarland in a Rock Valley North football game Friday night.
Sperry completed five passes and all five went to Shell for 172 yards. The two combined for scoring passes of 88, 24, 37 and six yards.
Ryan Cashore added 74 yards rushing.
The Blue Devils, 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Rock, fell behind 7-0, and were tied at 14-all before they scored the final 17 points.
McFarland, which fell to 2-2 and 1-1, was held to 239 total yards.
Evansville/Albany plays at Whitewater on Friday. McFarland travels to East Troy.

• Brodhead/Juda 49, Beloit Turner 0—Brodhead/Juda racked up 355 rushing yards in a lopsided conference win over Beloit Turner.
Derek Turner ran for 103 of those yards and scored twice. Three other Cardinals each ran for more than 50 yards.
In chasing the Cardinals around his home field, Turner’s Brock Woodman recorded 13 tackles, three of them for loss. Gene Wright had nine tackles of his own for the Trojans.
The Cardinals host Clinton on Friday, while Turner travels to Big Foot.

• Jefferson 41, East Troy 35—Garrett Blaeske carried 24 times for 237 yards and three touchdowns, including one in the fourth quarter as the Eagles held off a late rally to beat the Trojans at home.
Blaeske scored on runs of seven and 84 yards in the first half as Jefferson built up a 21-0 lead.
East Troy quarterback Brandon Matz threw for three touchdowns, including two to Sam Eckert.
Jefferson hosts Edgerton on Friday.

• Clinton 34, Palmyra-Eagle 7—Randy Popanz returned the second-half kickoff 81 yards for a touchdowns, sparking the Cougars past the host Panthers in a Rock Valley South game.
Clinton junior quarterback Derek Severson scored the only first-half touchdown on a 34-yard run to put the Cougars ahead, 6-0. Severson added scoring runs of 75 and 34 yards in the second half and finished with 208 yards on 16 carries.
Severson also threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Popanz and added a two-point conversion pass to Eric Delong to conclude the scoring.
The Panthers’ only score came on a 5-yard run by Zach Ostermeyer. Brett Knoebel finished with 69 yards rushing.

• Big Foot 49, Parkview 14—Brandon Hausner scored a touchdown on half of his six carries to lead the Chiefs to what is officially their 44th consecutive Rock Valley Conference victory.
Hausner carried six times for 100 yards, and Big Foot racked up 313 yards on the ground on just 21 carries.
Gus Wedig made three receptions for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns from the arm of Brett Morris. Wedig also made 13 tackles defensively.
Chuck Andrews and Jess Gearhart scored in the second half for the Vikings, who host Palmyra-Eagle next week.
