Tour MSOE's 'Man at Work' art exhibit
JANESVILLE--Join the Janesville Art League on a trip to Milwaukee School of Engineering to tour the Eckhart Grohmann collection, “Man at Work” on Wednesday, October 16.
Grohmann, an MSOE regent, Milwaukee businessman, and an avid art collector, donated the “Man at Work” collection to MSOE. He will be the docent for the JAL tour of the exhibit.
“Man At Work” comprises more than 900 paintings and sculptures from 1590 to the present, reflecting a variety of artistic styles and subjects that document the evolution of organized work, from farming and mining, to trades as glassblowing and seaweed gathering. Later, it is machines and men embodying the paradoxes of industrialism-dark factory interiors with molten metal juxtaposed with workers.
The tour bus departs at 8 a.m. from the parking lot of Shopko, 2500 U.S. Highway 14, Janesville. The trip includes a stop at the Mitchell Park Conservatory to tour the Domes, and lunch at the MSOE museum's rooftop sculpture garden. Bus departs Milwaukee at 3:15 p.m.
