The Janesville Parker High girls tennis team needed some relief and Beloit Memorial High provided it Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings swept past the Purple Knights, 7-0, in Big Eight Conference action.

“We had a couple of tough matches this past weekend and some tough ones last week,” Parker coach Justin Long said. “It was good to see the girls play so well. We dominated the match.”

Meghann Hoag continued to sparkle at No. 2 singles. Hoag improved to 10-0 at that spot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

“When we come out and do what we can do and not worry about the other team, we can be pretty good,” Long said.

The Vikings, 2-2 in the conference, play at Madison East on Thursday.

SUN PRAIRIE TOP CRAIG, 4-3—Sun Prairie won all four singles matches, which offset the Cougars’ sweep in the doubles competition in a Big Eight Conference girls tennis match at Sun Prairie on Tuesday.

“We had a pretty good match,” Craig coach Bill Peyer said. “It came down to who would take a singles match. We had a couple of close ones, but Sun Prairie just pulled it off.”

Peyer tried some new combinations in his doubles teams and that turned out to be the highlight for the Cougars, who fell to 1-3 in Big Eight play.
