BELOIT—Beloit College has done well, again, in ratings "U.S. News & World Report's" rankings of “best colleges,” released Tuesday.

The college tied for 59th among the publication's top 240 liberal arts colleges nationwide. Beloit College also was cited for:

-- Undergraduate teaching—One of 18 national liberal arts colleges recognized for strong commitment to teaching, ranked 10th on that list.

-- “Up-and-Comers”—Tied at No. 6 with four other schools on a short list of “Up-and-Comer” national liberal arts colleges, recognizing institutions believed to have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus or facilities.

-- “A-Plus Schools for B Students”—Included on a non-ranked listing of 76 national liberal arts colleges where “B” students have a “decent shot of being accepted and thriving.”

-- Study abroad—Included on a non-ranked list of 31 national colleges and universities recognized for commitment to “substantial academic work abroad for credit … and considerable interaction with the local culture.”
