Snappers force Game 3 in Western Division Final
BELOIT--The Beloit Snappers will play for the Midwest League's Western Division crown Monday night.
The Snappers jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning thanks to Chris Bostick's two-run home run and held on to beat Quad Cities 4-3 Sunday at Pohlman Field.
The victory evened the best-of-three series at a game apiece. Tonight's rubber match begins at 6:30 p.m.
Beloit wasted little time rattling River Bandits starter Zach Morton. Bostick's two-run shot came just three batters into the game and the Snappers used three more singles to make it 3-0.
Quad Cities answered right back in the top of the second with two runs, but Beloit countered with one in the bottom half that ended Morton's night. He allowed six hits and a pair of walks in 1 2/3 innings to take the loss.
The River Bandits aded a run in the fourth, but the two teams played scoreless baseball the rest of the way.
Beloit reliever Nolan Sanburn took the win with two scoreless innings. Austin House earned his first save of the postseason.
Fort Wayne and South Bend play a rubber match in their Eastern Division title series on Monday, as well.
