Snappers win playoff opener
Chris Bostick's ninth-inning error put a cap on Clinton's three-run rally.
The Beloit second baseman made sure, however, that the Snappers wouldn't completely squander their first 2013 Midwest League playoff game.
Bostick made up for his blunder with a bases-clearing double in the top of the 10th inning and the Snappers topped the LumberKings 9-6 on Wednesday night.
The Snappers will go for the series victory tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Pohlman Field in Beloit.
Trailing 2-0 in the seventh inning, Renato Nunez tied the game with one swing, the first of three Snappers home runs in the game.
In the top of the ninth, Bostick—who went 4-for-5 at the plate—led off the inning with a home run. Catcher Nick Rickles followed shortly after with a two-run shot.
But Clinton answered in its half of the ninth, tagging reliever Austin House for three runs. The last one was unearned on the error.
The Snappers shook off the rough inning in quick order, loading the bases full for Bostick, who drilled his double and then scored on Rickles' single.
House wound up the victor despite allowing four runs in two innings.
