EDGERTON—The Edgerton Police Department says it's seeking information about an attempted armed abduction that left a person hospitalized last week.

According to a news release from Edgerton Police Chief Tom Klubertanz, several armed people tried to abduct a person driving a vehicle between East Fulton and Main streets in downtown Edgerton. The driver let the people into the vehicle after they'd asked for a ride.

They then used a weapon to attempt to abduct the person, according to police. The person, who is not identified as a male or female, apparently escaped the vehicle and later was treated at an area hospital for undisclosed injuries, according to the report.

The incident happened between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, according to the report.

It's not clear whether the driver's vehicle has been recovered, and police have not shared details about the incident, including the kind of weapon used or whether the driver knows the people involved.

Edgerton police asked anyone with information to call police at 608-884-3321 or Janesville Area CrimeStoppers at 608-756-3636.
