Craig, Parker lose in Big Eight boys soccer
Janesville Craig’s boys soccer team started strong Tuesday night.
The Cougars led state-ranked Madison West 1-0 nine minutes into the game.
Unfortunately for the Cougars, it was all Regents after that.
West scored three goals in the first half and added another late in the game en route to a 4-1 win.
Craig (2-2, 0-2) got on the board quickly behind Jozai Ceballos’ goal at the 9-minute mark, but that was all the offense the Cougars could generate. Craig had zero shots on goal.
“We proved we could play with one of the state’s better teams,” Craig coach Mike Hook said. “Our biggest problem is that our guys aren’t used to playing soccer at that level.
“We might’ve lost tonight, but I think we earned West’s respect. Hopefully, we can build on that.”
Craig hosts Monona Grove on Thursday night in a nonconference match.

n Memorial 10, Parker 0—The Spartans displayed the talent that has made them a perennial Big Eight power.
Memorial scored seven goals in the second half after Parker allowed just three in the first half.
“The result was lopsided, but at least it gave our guys a chance to see the things you have to do to win games,” Parker coach Jason Bier said. “To see the things we aren’t doing.”
The Vikings are 0-2 in the conference.
“The first half was nice,” Bier said. “We gave up a soft goal, but basically we gave up two goals. It was a confidence booster. Then we gave up a couple of goals early in the second half, and I got some people in to give them some game experience.”
The Vikings are off until next Tuesday when they host Middleton.
