Craig volleyball advances to championship round

Janesville Craig and Walworth Big Foot advanced to Gold Division pool play for today's final round of the Cougar-Viking Classic girls volleyball tournament which began Friday.

Craig went 12-2 to top the eight teams that played in the Craig gymnasium. Tomah and Lodi went 11-3 and Baraboo went 8-6 to qualify for the Gold Division.

Brodhead went 7-7.

At Parker High, Big Foot and Cuba City each went 13-1, while Green Bay Notre Dame (10-4) and Portage (7-7) rounded out the top four that advanced to today's top pool play.

Edgerton went 4-10, Parker was 3-11 and Orfordville Parkview went 0-14 and will compete in the Silver Division at Parker today.

Craig coach Blake Budrow was pleased with the way his squad played.

“We played really well,” Budrow said. “Our passers did an exceptional job. (Kayley) Hackett and (Melanie) Tinker did a great job of getting it to our hitters.”

Action begins at 8:30 a.m. today at both Craig and Parker.
