BELOIT--A pair of three-run innings helped the Beloit Snappers stay red hot.

They scored three in the first inning, then three more in the sixth when they trailed by two runs to top the Clinton LumberKings 6-5 on Monday night.

It was the Snappers’ third straight victory and seventh in their last eight games.

Beloit’s early three-run lead evaporated in the top of the fourth frame when Clinton used four singles, a walk and a hit batter to plate four runs. Taylor Ard’s home run in the fifth made it 5-3 LumberKings.

But the Snappers stormed back in the sixth with a critical two-out rally. Chris Bostick and Matt Olson singled to start it off, and John Wooten reached on an error. Renato Nunez’s single gave Beloit the lead for good.

Nolan Sanburn got the victory, allowing just one hit and striking out one in two innings of relief work. Vincent Voiro picked up his third save with a clean ninth. David Holman was the tough-luck loser for Clinton, giving up just two earned runs in eight innings of work.

The Snappers will go for a four-game sweep of the LumberKings at 7 p.m. tonight.
