Olson powers Snappers to road victory
GENEVA, Ill.--Matt Olson hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the 10th inning that helped the Beloit Snappers open a road series with a victory Wednesday night.
After the Snappers squandered a five-run lead in the final two innings, Ryan Mathews gave them the lead in the 10th with an RBI single and Olson hit his second homer, a two-run shot, as Beloit beat Kane County 8-5.
Austin House blew the save in the ninth for Beloit, but eventually picked up the win by closing the door in the 10th inning to move to 3-4.
Beloit built a 5-0 lead for starter Dakota Bacus in the first three innings as Olson hit a solo shot in the second inning. He now has 21 homers this season.
Bacus went six innings and allowed just three hits but did not factor in the decision.
Kane County scored three runs in the eighth, then two more in the ninth to send the game to extra innings.
The Cougars and Snappers play again tonight at 6:30 p.m.
