Snappers end six-game slide
BELOIT--The Beloit Snappers stayed in Monday’s game with a couple of home runs.
They broke it open with base hits.
The Snappers used a five-run rally in the third inning to jump all over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, then held on to win 8-5, snapping a six-game losing skid at Pohlman Field.
Chris Bostick hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning and Matt Olson followed with another in the second as the Snappers stayed alive, though trailing 3-2.
In the third, Ryan Mathews led off with a double and scored on Bostick’s single. Olson drove home Bostick with a double and Brett Vertigan and Nick Rickles followed with singles to give the Snappers the lead.
Olson finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Wisconsin starter Ryan Gibbard gave up eight runs—all earned—in five innings.
Derek De Young got his sixth win despite surrending five runs in five innings. Vincent Voiro pitched three scoreless and Austin House closed the door with his eighth save.
The teams wrap up a four-game series in Beloit tonight at 7 p.m.
