Rage suffer first loss of season
MILTON--The Rock County Rage lost their first Ironman Football League game of the season and their starting quarterback Saturday night.
Danny Roberts suffered what was initially diagnosed as a cracked rib, and Rock County fell at home to the Burlington Blue Devils, 27-14, at Milton High.
The loss dropped Rock County’s record to 8-1. Burlington is 7-2.
If Rock County wins its home game against the Dane County Hawks at 7 p.m. next Saturday, it will clinch homefield advantage through the IFL playoffs.
That would give the Rage a first-round bye, and might allow Roberts enough time to heal and play in a second-round matchup.
Roberts completed a 9-yard scoring pass to Michael Heffner in the second quarter, and then he ran a yard for Rock County’s only other score in the third quarter.
Roberts finished with six carries for 77 yards, and he completed six of 17 passes for 48 yards.
Heffner finished with four catches for 50 yards and a TD.
Rock County’s Tyler Honeck led the defense with seven tackles and three sacks.
DeAndre Harrell, Titus Jackson and David Beyerly each had an interception.
