CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa--Max Kepler and an error-plagued sixth inning doomed the Beloit Snappers on Friday night.

Kepler’s two-run home run got Cedar Rapids on the board and the Kernels scored three unearned runs in the sixth on their way to sweeping the Snappers with a 6-5 victory.

Beloit grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third, but Kepler’s homer gave the Kernels the lead. Kepler finished 2-for-4 and added a third RBI on a triple later in the game.

With the game tied 2-2 in the sixth, three Cedar Rapids runs crossed the plates, all of them on the Snappers’ two errors.

Dakota Bacus was the tough-luck loser, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing just four hits and five runs—but just two of them earned.

John Wooten blasted his 17th homer of the year for the Snappers.

Beloit returns home tonight to open a four-game homestand against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Tonight’s game begins at 7 p.m. and features a postgame fireworks show. Sunday’s 2 p.m. game will feature players wearing jerseys resembling those of the Oakland Athletics, which will be auctioned off following the game.
