Snappers suffer third straight loss
APPLETON--The Beloit Snappers have fallen on hard times.
Wisconsin battered Beloit for six runs in the first inning and held on for an 8-5 Midwest League win Tuesday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium.
Beloit, which won the first-half Western Division title, dropped its third straight and has lost 11 out of its last 15 games.
The Snappers made it interesting in the ninth against the Timber Rattlers but left the based loaded. Matt Olson and Ryan Mathews each drove in a run to cut the deficit to three, but Ryan Delgado flew out to end the game. Beloit’s Renato Nunez hit his 18th home run of the season in the fourth.
Beloit returns home today to begin a three-game series with Cedar Rapids at 7 p.m. As part of All Sports Night, all kids wearing the jersey from their summer league team will receive a free general admission ticket to tonight’s game.
