Janesville 11U team opens with win

GALESBURG, ILL.--The Janesville 11U tournament baseball team kicked off action at the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament with a 6-4 victory over Mill Creek, Ohio, on Thursday.

Janesville scored five runs in the second inning by executing small-ball strategy.

Austin Kleisner plated two runs with one suicide squeeze, then Janesville completed another squeeze play immediately after.

Connor Clark struck out six batters in four hitless innings of relief on the mound to earn player of the game honors for Janesville.

Mitch Woelfle went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Janesville takes on host Galesburg Friday at 10 a.m., then closes out pool play against Jeffersontown, Kent., at 3 p.m.
