December 11, 1946 - July 26, 2013
Ronald D. Holtz, age 66, of Janesville, passed away Friday evening, July 26, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Mauston, WI, the son of the late Floyd and Ruth (Steffen) Holtz. On Aug. 5, 1972, he married the former Mary A. Gross at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston. Ron worked for many years as the Quality Assurance Manager for the Cinetec Landis Grinding Mfg. Corp. in South Beloit, IL, until his passing. He was a very devout and active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Janesville. He was a leader for the RCIA Program at St. Patrick's. He absolutely was an outdoorsman! He loved spending time on his land near Mauston, whether it be chopping and cutting wood, or enjoying his love of Astronomy by looking at the stars with his telescope! He had a very deep love and interest in science and history. Ron always looked for the positive in people, and was never known to speak ill of anyone. He will be missed for his wonderful sense of humor, and also for his little stories and jokes! Most of all, Ron was a family man first and foremost. He adored his wife and children, and loved spending time with his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was a regular walker with the Janesville CROP Walk every spring, and, also, volunteered for the Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society.
Ron is survived by his wife, Mary; his three children: Melissa Holtz of Janesville, Ryan (Tasha) Holtz of Sturtevant, WI, and Michelle Holtz of Salt Lake City, UT; his six siblings: Dave (Dorothy) Holtz, Herb (Chris) Holtz, both of Tomah, WI, Steve Holtz of Mosinee, WI, Dan (Sarah) Holtz of Illinois, Jerry (Casey) Holtz of Columbus, WI, and Judy Holtz, of Atlanta, GA; his brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Kathleen) Gross of Castle Rock, CO, Libby Gross of Spring Hill, FL, Paul (Darlene) Gross of Madison, IN, and Peggy Rogers of San Jose, CA; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alieah; and his step-father, "Grandpa Al".
Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 315 Cherry St., with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
