The weatherman may not agree, but the calendar says today is the day for spring primaries.

Highs and lows—as in voter turnout—are expected for several area races.

Clinton will likely be the hot spot, as voters in that school district are expected in large numbers to cast ballots on a referendum to borrow $9.63 million for upgrades, mostly at the elementary school.

Polling places are until 8 p.m., and voters can register to vote by bringing proof of residence to the poll.

Statewide, voters will narrow a field of five state superintendent of public instruction candidates to two.

In Turtle Township, a field of five candidates will be narrowed to four for the general election in April.

Eight candidates are running for three seats on the Darien Village Board. Voters will narrow the field to six.

In Delavan Township, two candidates are competing for town chairman, even though three names will be on the ballot today. Voters will narrow the field to two. Supervisor Jim Wolfgram has withdrawn his bid for chair, but his name will be on the ballot.

Three candidates are competing for one seat on the Fontana School Board. Voters will narrow the field to two today.

And in Lake Geneva, a field of three will be narrowed to two for the seat of District 2 alderperson.
