Brian Cherry, owner of the Time Out Pub & Eatery, will host a Fallen Heroes benefit from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at his establishment in the lower level of the Helgesen Building, 101 E. Milwaukee St.

Proceeds will benefit The Janesville Firefighters Charities, a local nonprofit organization, he said.

"As a business, we want to give back to the community and say thanks. Janesville has been pretty good to us, and I don't want people to forget 9/11,'' Cherry said.

Cherry hopes the first-time event will raise at least $1,000.

"If more is raised, that'll be great," he said.

To participate, customers will pay $10 for a coupon to order off the menu anything up to $10.

Budweiser helped provide a half-barrel of beer, so beer will be sold for $1.50 a glass.

That money, too, will be donated to the local firefighters charity, Cherry said.

Charities include Firehouse Park in downtown Janesville and the Fill the Boot for Jerry's Kids campaign.
