It was all cylinders on go Thursday night for Janesville Parker High School's softball team.
The Vikings pounded out nine hits and got three-hit pitching from Ashley Ross to beat host Madison Memorial, 4-1, in a Big Eight Conference game.
The Vikings, with two victories this week, are 2-14 in the Big Eight and 3-16 overall.
"It was an all-around team game," said Parker coach Jenni Seisser. "Ashley pitched very well, and our defense played tremendously behind her."
The Vikings scored all their runs in the fourth inning—all after the first two batters were retired. Freshman Jensen Henke hit the first of two doubles and scored on Brittany Stuttgen's double. Natalie McDonald singled Stuttgen to third, and she then stole second.
Lauren Brooks then hit a key two-run single. Ashley Ross then hit a ball that Memorial misplayed, allowing Ross to score.
Maggie Tracey led the Vikings' offense, going 3-for-4.
Ross finished with five strikeouts and only one walk.
"I was pleased with the bottom of the lineup," Seisser said. "Numbers five through nine hit the ball well. I can't think of anything we didn't do well.
"We finally played together as a team."
The Vikings play Beloit on Tuesday and Madison East on Thursday, both at Dawson Field.
