The Cardinals improved to 5-3 in the conference, while Craig fell to 4-7 and 6-8.

“Middleton has really improved since the lost time we played them, but our errors really hurt us,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “Our pitchers pitched well, but our three errors in the seventh gave them two runs, and their other three runs were also unearned.’’

Winning pitcher Ashley Wagner notched 10 strikeouts while limiting the Cougars to five hits. Michelle Buechner went 3-for-4 to lead Middleton’s seven-hit attack.

Craig’s best shot came with two runners on base and nobody in the fourth, but the Cougars couldn’t connect for the RBIs.
