Elkhorn senior Drew Liner and Edgerton senior Dan Ozga stand atop their conferences to finish the high school boys golf season.

Liner has been named Player of the Year in the Southern Lakes, and Ozga wound up with the No. 1 average among the 10 players who received first-team recognition in the two divisions of the Rock Valley.

As a fourth-year player in Steve Fisher’s first year as Elkhorn coach, Liner was first in the Southern Lakes with 26 points, based on performances throughout the conference season. He had a 37.4-stroke average for nine holes in league competition.

Liner shot a 77 in sectional competition to qualify for the WIAA Division 1 state tournament, where he had 82-85—167 for 36 holes.

Liner is joined on the All-Southern Lakes first team by junior teammate Brock Poggensee, Lake Geneva Badger senior Alex Gaugert, Badger junior Ryan Garske and Waterford junior Ryan Hilton.

After averaging 37.2 in the Rock Valley and repeating as the conference meet medalist, Ozga went on to a third straight Division 2 state tournament. He shot 78-74—152 at University Ridge, despite steady rain on the second day, to finish fifth after being the state runner-up as a junior.

Ozga, who is headed to UW-Green Bay, was a third-team all-state selection last year. Those selections have not been announced this season.

Along with Ozga on the All-Rock Valley North first team are three Jefferson players—Elliot Johnson, Tyler Schmidt and Sam Nevins. McFarland’s Austin Hollman completes the first five.

Brodhead’s Jake Cole, also a Division 2 state qualifier, heads the All-Rock Valley South team with a 39.4 average. He is joined on the first five by Turner’s Dan Schliesmann and Austin Foley, Walworth Big Foot’s Collin Hubertz and Palmyra-Eagle’s Cody Kloeffler.
