Wietecha told the finance and labor relations committee at an earlier meeting that he plans leave the city sometime next year. He shared his plans so the committee could budget for a new administrator search, council President Mason Braunschweig said.

The committee added a "nominal" amount to the 2012 budget for an administrator search, he said.

Under Wietecha's portion of tonight's 6:30 council meeting, the agenda states "future resignation." He said in an email to The Gazette on Monday that he would talk more after the council discussion.

Wietecha, who previously was the administrator of three small, rural cities in Minnesota, started in Evansville in January 2007.
