A few weeks ago the president of Chick-fil-A said his company opposes same-sex marriage and the debates and protests started after his interview. Yesterday, supporters came out in droves to thank the company. They stood in lines that seemed to last forever to purchase food from the fast food chicken company. Yesterday was Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

In my opinion the owner of the company had his opinion and he shared it. Everyone has that right. End of story. For some reason it's never that easy in our polarized climate. Yesterday supporters ingested millions of empty calories, thousands of grams of fat and enough sodium to turn Lake Michigan from a fresh to salt body of water. I would never eat Chick-fil-A and it has nothing to do with stances on social issues. It has everything to do with my health.

Google the company and look at the nutrition of those yummy chicken sandwiches. The Deluxe Chicken Sandwich has 500 calories, 21 grams of fat (6 of those saturated) and 1650mg of sodium. Hmmm. Is today the day when Obamacare can save the day as indigestion, heart burn and general malaise hits those supporters and they head to urgent care? :~)

I love those who are passionate about causes and support those who share their opinions. Standing in line to ingest greasy classic chickens as support? God bless America!

I'm hoping the founder of Fat Cakes doesn't come out in favor of anything I'm passionate about. I wonder if they'd offer fat-free Fat Cakes during an appreciation day?

Enjoy your Thursday gang! To my friends who joined the appreciation yesterday may I suggest a bit of Pepto in your lunch box today. :-)
