The award was given by the Wisconsin Wing and the Great Lakes Region of the Civil Air Patrol and accepted by Patrick Ripp, one of three instructors for the BTC program.

The Janesville college's AMT program is being considered for a national award given by the Civil Air Patrol's National Aerospace Education Review Committee, which includes members of the Brewer family.

The Brewer Award is presented by the Civil Air Patrol in commemoration of Frank G. Brewer Sr., and his lifelong interest in aviation, youth and education to individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the aerospace field.

BTC's AMT program has been in operation for more than 70 years and has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration since 1949.
