Delavan-Darien High School teacher dies unexpectedly
DELAVAN—Delavan-Darien High School teacher Carrie Schuknecht died Wednesday morning after an unexpected medical issue, said Mike Heine, Delavan-Darien coordinator of school and community relations.
Schuknecht, 39, was a business education teacher at the high school since 2011, according to a news release from Principal Mark Schmitt. Schuknecht graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1992, according to the release.
Schuknecht earned her undergraduate degree from UW-Whitewater in operations management, according to her biography on the school's website.
Schuknecht died at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, according to the release.
The death is “difficult and sad news for many students,” Schmitt wrote in the release.
The school will hold an early homeroom Thursday to share more information with students. The high school student services office will offer counseling for “however long it's needed,” Heine said.
