JANESVILLE—Police say they caught a man taking videos with a cellphone in the women's bathroom near the Palmer Park wading pool on Thursday.

Joshua L. Miller, 23, no known address, was arrested on a charge of capturing representations depicting nudity.

A lifeguard called police at 5:57 p.m. Thursday, saying someone had been in the bathroom for two hours, according to a police report.

A woman at the pool had alerted the lifeguard that someone had been in one of the stalls for a long time, said police Lt. Terry Sheridan.

It was not clear whether the woman knew the person in the stall was a man, Sheridan said.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to examine the phone, and the investigation is ongoing, Sheridan said. It was not clear whether the images on the phone also included photographs.

It appears that people in other stalls were not aware they were being recorded, Sheridan said, and Miller was not forthcoming about why he was recording the images.

Miller was still in the stall when police arrived.

Miller was jailed overnight and appeared in court Friday, where he was granted a $5,000 signature bond, allowing him to be released.

Sheridan said the investigation likely will include the identification of potential victims.
