JANESVILLE—Janesville police are investigating an early Thursday morning theft at Woodman's corporate headquarters.

Authorities received a call from an employee at 2:23 a.m. that someone was entering a safe on the second floor inside the building at 2631 Liberty Lane, said Lt. Jim Holford.

Police responded, set up a perimeter and found three people—two males and one female—inside that business and one of the men carrying property that was from that safe, he said.

“At least one or two of this group may be cleaning staff,” Holford said.

A large amount of gift cards and other items worth several thousands were taken from inside the safe, he said.

The three were being interviewed and interrogated by police as they continue their investigation, Holford said.

“Our evidence technician is processing the scene where the safe was entered,” he said.

More information will be reported as it becomes available.
