— Authorities have released the names of three men who are wanted by police report in connection with a shooting early Saturday that left a Beloit man hospitalized.

According to a news release from the Beloit Police Department, police are searching for Samuel J. Jones, 29, Terrell Peppers, 31 and Charles A. Steel, 28.

The Beloit Police Department reports it is seeking warrants through the Rock County District Attorney's Office for charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide against the three men.

The charges would be connected to a shooting early Saturday in a parking lot outside the Turtle Tap, 1344 Grand Ave., that police reported left a 22-year-old Beloit man hospitalized.

Police investigating the shooting found the victim's vehicle several blocks away. The vehicle was damaged by several gunshots and had blood in it.

Police later found the victim, who police have not identified, at a Rockford hospital, where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have released no other details about the shooting.

Police said Jones, Peppers and Steel should be considered armed and dangerous. Police could not immediately confirm the addresses of the men. One Beloit official said at least two of the men had addresses recently listed in or around Beloit, but Beloit Police Capt. Vince Sciame said police believe they could be in Illinois.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the whereabouts of the three men should call 919, or Beloit CrimeStoppers at (608) 362-7463.
