Janesville Craig soccer breaks through, Parker falls
Monica Speth’s goal at the 58:32 got things going for the Cougars, who finished with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Purple Knights.
“We finally broke them down,” said Craig coach Bill McCabe. “I can’t single out any player out there tonight. It was an absolute team effort.
“Our passing. The way we played defense. It was all 11 players out there. It was a very good showing.”
Jessica Martin and Bianca Figueroa added goals after Speth, with Speth and Kristi Crandall earning assists.
Beloit (9-3), which had won five straight, got four shots off on goal, and Craig’s Maddie Schroeder stopped them all.
“Our shot selection in the second half was much better,” McCabe said.
Craig, now 2-2 in the Big Eight and 6-3-3 overall, participates in the Sugar River Raider Classic today. The Cougars open against Mount Horeb and then play an undetermined opponent based on the first-game results.
