Jenni Seisser is in a joking mood with her Janesville Parker softball team on a six-game winning streak.

Ashley Ross led a 12-hit attack with a double and triple and the Vikings won, 6-2, at Madison West in Big Eight Conference action Thursday afternoon.

“I’m pleased with the way we played,” Seisser said. “With prom on Saturday, you are always concerned how they will react the week before.

“Since they won, I told them I’d let them go to prom,” Seisser said.

It was a prom-like atmosphere once the Vikings got accustomed to a large strike zone. The Vikings scored runs in four different innings, including a three-run fifth to go to 6-4 in the Big Eight and

6-7 overall.

Winning pitcher Erin Muehlenkamp drove in Kayce Chesebro with a single to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead in the first. Chesebro had singled to open the game and stole second.

Jensen Henke’s RBI single drove in Ross in the fourth inning. Ross had doubled.

Parker’s lead grew to 5-0 in the fifth. Rachael Hearn walked to open the inning and stole second. Chesebro singled, and Hearn scored on a fielder’s choice on Andrea Roeber’s grounder.

Chesebro scored on Muehlenkamp’s sacrifice fly, and Roeber scored the final run of the inning when Ross tripled.

The Vikings added their final run in the seventh when Karlee Fowler singled, stole second and scored on Natalie McDonald’s single.

Muehlenkamp limited West to five hits and did not walk a batter.

“Our defense is playing well,” Seisser said.

The Vikings will be tested next week. Parker plays at Verona on Tuesday and hosts Sun Prairie on Thursday.
