— Jefferson County authorities are investigating a shooting at a bar in Jefferson Township that left two people injured.

According to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, police took three people into custody after a shooting early Saturday at Rox Sports Bar and Grill, 3656 County K.

Police report the bar was packed with people for a special event when the shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses reported several shots being fired.

Two people were injured in the shooting, according to the news release. One of the people wounded was transported by ambulance to Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital with apparently non-life threatening injuries.

The other person injured refused medical transport and left the bar in a private vehicle.

Jefferson County deputies and Jefferson police later stopped a vehicle with occupants suspected of being involved in the shooting. Police took three people into custody pending an investigation.

It wasn’t clear whether multiple shooters were involved.

On Saturday, police had not reported any charges in the incident, and Jefferson County authorities had not released any names in connection with the incident.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to interview a large number of people who were at the bar to learn what happened.

Rox owner J.C. Johnson said in a phone interview that the bar was hosting a “hip-hop dance,” and several security guards were in attendance. He said that the shooting happened at bar time, as a crowd of 50 to 70 people were leaving.

Johnson said that he’d left the bar earlier, before gunfire broke out, but security told him the shooting came after an altercation between people while they were on their way out of the bar.
