— A 26-year-old Whitewater man was sentenced to four years in prison this week after pleading guilty to multiple counts of possessing child pornography.

Whitewater police in April executed a search warrant at Shaun Stanfill's apartment. During the search, they found a thumb drive that held at least four videos containing child pornography, according to a criminal complaint.

Police received information from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office in Illinois that led to the search warrant.

Deputies in Illinois had arrested someone who said he had watched child pornography at Stanfill's apartment in Whitewater.

Stanfill admitted having the videos but said his brother left them at his home. He said he looked at them once, more than a year ago.

Police said Stanfill also had "many pictures of children in bathing suits or naked in the bath tub but not engaged in sexual acts."

Stanfill was charged with four counts of possessing child pornography and pleaded guilty to three of them. The additional charge plus misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Stanfill will serve four years of extended supervision after his prison term and will be required to register as a sex offender.
