Police arrest three for drugs at a Milton school
Police searched Milton Middle School, Milton-Edgerton-Clinton Alternative School and Milton High School, according to a news release from the Milton Police Department.
The search at the high school resulted in arrests of:
-- An 18-year-old male on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, maintaining a drug vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
-- A 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female both on charges of possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police withheld the names of those arrested, citing an ongoing investigation by the Milton Police Department and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
Milton Police Lt. John Conger said the 18-year-old had a “significant” amount of marijuana along with cash and packaging material.
All items in the arrests were found in student vehicles in the parking lot at Milton High School, Conger said.
Tuesday’s search was the first sweep of Milton schools using drug-sniffing dogs this school year, Conger said. He said it netted more arrests than any other single sweep of district schools.
“This was a lot for us,” Conger said. “We’ve had searches that result in one, maybe two minor arrests.”
