— Janesville police are looking for information about a 16-year-old girl who left home last month.

Jade A. Howell of 264 Waveland Road, Janesville, is described as female, white, 4-feet-11-inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police Sgt. Chad Pearson said police received conflicting information, some indicating Howell might be held against her will, and other information there might not be cause for concern.

Howell first was reported missing June 7, when she left home of her own volition, but new information recently came to light, Pearson said.

“We recently got some updated information that developed some concerns for us that we’re starting to look into,” Pearson said Monday night.

A national Amber Alert can’t be issued until more is known for certain, Pearson said, so police are hoping the public can help.

Anyone with information on Howell’s whereabouts is asked to call the Janesville Police Department at (608) 755-3100 or Janesville Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 756-3636.

An image of Howell will be posted on electronic billboards in Janesville, Pearson said.

Juvenile runaways are fairly common, Pearson said, but it’s uncommon that worrisome information of this nature is received. He said he could not elaborate.
