Beloit Police Captain Vince Sciame calls it a first for his career. Thieves apparently took the copper downspouts right off the First Congregational Church on Bushnell Street.

Sciame says an officer on patrol spotted a man and woman pushing a wheelbarrow, filled with garden tools and downspouts, along Broad Street around dawn Tuesday. He speculates the two planned to sell the metal at a local scrap yard.
