Janesville Craig’s girls soccer team had to work overtime for a victory Thursday night.

Chelsea Sheedy scored at 2:51 of the second overtime to lift the Cougars to a 1-0 Big Eight Conference win over Madison East.

Craig High (8-5, 3-2) made the most out of only three shots on goal, as Sheedy got the game-winner on an assist from Ashley Overley.

“We knew it was a matter of time before East’s defense made a mistake and that’s what happened,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “Ashley made a nice play to get Chelsea the ball, and she ripped a shot past their goalie.

“I thought we controlled play, especially in the overtime, but we just couldn’t finish. This a good win for us, especially on the road.”

Amanda Hamilton made seven saves to earn the shutout win.

The Cougars host Kenosha Tremper at noon Saturday.
