— Pairing the city's annual Earth Day Energy Fair with the new Art Crawl worked so well last year that organizers are planning a repeat Friday.

Visitors can make it a full night at the Art Crawl in Main Street businesses downtown and the ninth annual energy fair at the school field house.

"They fit together wonderfully," said Jim Brooks, community coordinator of Evansville Community Partnership, which sponsors the energy fair with the school district, Evansville Water and Light and WPPI Energy.

The energy fair last year attracted nearly 2,100 people in 32 hours, he said, and organizers are hoping for an even bigger crowd this year. The fair features 65 exhibitors.

The Art Crawl will feature more than 15 artists and musicians at 10 locations downtown from 4 to 9 p.m.

"It'll be a fun, fun evening, and we're really excited," said Lisa James, who organized the Art Crawl with other downtown businesses. "The artists are incredible Businesses continue to build that community atmosphere and draw people into the downtown."

James and her husband, Matthias, will have three artists at their Allen Creek Gallery, which features Matthias James Pottery.

Visitors will be able to get a passport stamped at each location to be entered into a drawing for a gift basket from local businesses valued at $450. The winner will be chosen at 10 p.m. at Real Coffee at Daun, which will be holding an open mic night until 11 p.m.

The Eager Free Public Library, 39 W. Main St., will kicked off weekend Thursday with a 6 p.m. showing of the new film "Green Fire," a documentary about Wisconsin's legendary environmentalist Aldo Leopold.
