Spring time can be a dangerous time for unhealthy contaminants to seep into the Rock County's ground water supply.

Environmental Health Director Tim Banwell says about 15% of Rock County's 13,000 wells have coliform bacteria or nitrate concerns each year. Banwell says this is a good time of year to test well water, because the snow melt and spring rains can flush contaminants into the ground water supplies. He says testing well water is simple and relatively inexpensive.

This is Groundwater Awareness Week in Wisconsin.
