Officials with the Janesville Fire Department are suggesting two local training programs for firefighters and paramedics work more closely together.

Deputy Chief Jerry Luiting says the Mercy Paramedic Program is excellent, and so is the Blackhawk Technical College's Firefighter training. The problem is the fire department needs recruits trained in both areas.

He's suggesting Mercy and BTC collaborate to support training of a more comprehensively prepared candidate.
