— A Janesville manufacturing company evacuated its building Thursday after a fire started in an office area.

Janesville Fire Shift Cmdr. Scott Morovits said the fire was reported at about 7 a.m. at RathGibson, 2505 Foster Ave., Janesville. He said no one was injured.

Firefighters arrived and saw black smoke coming from ventilation units, Morovits said. Flames were found behind aluminum siding in the ceiling.

The cause of the fire appears to be electrical, he said. The building had an estimated $25,000 in damage.

The office area included several desks and computers, Morovits said. The fire was near the production area.

RathGibson employs 140 people working three shifts, six days a week, he said. It was unknown how many people were working when the building was evacuated.

The building was reopened after the fire, Morovits said. Production at the plant was expected to continue.
