— Siven Furseth, Janesville Craig’s reigning WIAA state champion, has added another title to his high school wrestling collection.

Furseth, a senior, followed up Saturday’s triumph in the Stech Invitational at West Allis with a championship performance Thursday in the Badger State Invitational at the Alliant Energy Center, where he was named the most outstanding wrestler for the second straight year.

After prevailing at 130 pounds in the Division 1 state tournament last season, Furseth ran his 2010-11 record to 15-0 at 140 with four wins in the Badger State. He secured the title with a 6-2 win over River Valley’s Seth Liegel (11-1), a Division 2 state semifinalist last season.

“Those were the first points he’s given up this season, and that was a questionable takedown,” Craig coach Mark Mullen said.

Furseth’s other three wins came on pins, including an eight-second fall over Iowa-Grant’s Cody Belken in the semifinals, to wrap up his MVP performance.

“Doing that for the second straight year says a lot,’’ Mullen said of Furseth’s individual recognition, “because there were a lot of outstanding wrestlers in that tournament.”

Craig finished seventh with 118 points in the

17-team tournament, which was won by Owatanna, Minn., with 239.

Craig’s Jamie Kumlien reached the 125-pound

finals before being pinned by Stoughton’s Nick Urso in 3:20. Kyle Uppmann of the Cougars took third at 130 with a 7-1 decision over Lomira’s Garrett Keller, and Craig’s Zach Mulrooney fell 1-0 in to Sparta’s Toby Mosley in the third-place match at 145.
