16-year-old Dusstin Longtin of Beloit faces trial on a charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide after a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf Monday afternoon in a Rock County courtroom.

A muffled gasp could be heard from at least one member of the audience when the court commissioner explained the teen-ager would be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. Longtin is accused of shooting 18-year-old Luis Gonzalez during an argument between two groups of young men October 13th near Beloit Memorial High School. During a preliminary hearing earlier this month, two of Longtin's friends testified the victim had been taunting the group before the shooting.

Longtin remains in the rock county jail.
