JTS reports ups and downs in 2009
JTS Director, Dave Mumma, says overall ridership was down about 11%, driven mostly by the economy. He says the local "school tripper" routes were off nearly 19% compared to last year.
On the positive side was a continuation of the upward trend in Beloit-Janesville Express ridership of about 2%. Leading the way were the services to Black Hawk Tech (up 32%) and to the Job Center (up 18%).
Mumma says operating revenues, which included loss of ridership and reduced revenue from on-bus advertising, decreased 5.8%. Expenditures were under budget, thanks to a decrease in diesel fuel prices. Mumma says he was able to return $25,823 to the city's general fund.
