— Officials continued Monday afternoon to investigate the cause of a Sunday night fire at County B and Zenda Road.

It took the Town of Linn Fire Department and about a dozen area fire departments almost 10 hours to extinguish thousands of hay bales that caught fire in a field late Sunday night. Linn Township Fire Chief Tim Rasch said there were no injuries or structural damage.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 500-pound bales of hay were burning when firefighters arrived at the scene about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the fire department. County B was closed for several hours while firefighters fought the flames.

About 200,000 gallons of water and 60 gallons of fire suppressant foam were used to extinguish the fire, according to the release.

The scene was cleared about 9:15 a.m. Monday.
