JANESVILLE—The Rock River is receding, so the Rock County Sheriff's Office is lifting the boat-speed restriction for the portion of the river in the southern half of the county.

The slow/no wake order is lifted from the Beloit-Rock Town Line Road Bridge to the state line.

County ordinance governs the slow/no wake orders. For the river's southern stretch, the order is put in place when the U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Afton reaches 8.5 feet.

The gauge on Friday morning was at 8.39 feet, and the National Weather Service projected water level at Afton would continue to drop throughout the coming week.
