October 16, 1926-April 12, 2014

Joann S. Johnson, 87, of Delavan, WI, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Lakeland Aurora Hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1926, to Webb and Carol (Pascoe) Schultz. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1944, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she met Donald Johnson. They married on Jan. 31, 1948 in Delavan. She developed a great love of sports from her father and was a big fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. She used to keep a line score of every game. The last one she scored was Thursday, April 10, when the Brewers won. She also loved to read, do word puzzles, anything to keep her mind sharp. She loved her home in Delavan, especially the beautiful view of Lake Comus from her front window.

Joann will be deeply missed by her daughters: Carol (Michael) Grimaldi of Kansas City, MO, Diane (Wilbur) Honkan of Darien, Wendy (Robert) Shafer of Delavan, Jane Johnson of Delavan, and Susan Ward of Madison; her grandchildren: Megan Dimmick-Rusch of Muskego, Jacob Porter of Madison, Joseph Grimaldi of New York, NY, Joann (Ryan) Shafer of Janesville, Donald Johnson of Minnesota, and Kyle Shafer of Delavan; her three great-granddaughters: Kora Dimmick of Bay View, Ally Rusch and Mallory Rusch of Muskego; and her cat, Max. Her husband, Donald; her son, Rick; and her grandson, Sean Ward, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity or cause. Pay it forward. She told us to always remember her, but not to mourn her.

There will be a private burial. BETZER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
