Your Thanks: Rotary Gardens, donors team up on memory stones
It’s a beautiful thing when people get together to benefit others in the community, as they did recently on a sunny Saturday in Janesville. Volunteers from Mercy Hospice Care and Rotary Botanical Gardens met to help people make their own Garden Memory Stones, which provide a unique way to celebrate and remember a loved one.
Participant comments were great, thanks to the terrific group of volunteers and their generous gifts of assistance and materials. Local businesses—Dvorak Landscape Supply, Michaels, and Hormel—also donated materials, which everyone appreciated. They enjoyed being able to create their Garden Memory Stones at the Horticultural Center, thanks to Rotary Botanical Gardens and its education coordinator, Kris Koch.
Finally, participants expressed appreciation to Mercy Hospice Care for encouraging events such as this in our community and offering them at low cost. Another upcoming event is the Evening of Remembrance at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24. And an ongoing opportunity is the GriefCare Support Group, which meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays at Mercy North near Wal-Mart. If community members wish to attend, all they need to do is call and register at 888-39-MERCY (888-396-3729).
