The Friends of Oak Hill Chapel are pleased and proud of the approval of the Janesville City Council of the friends’ plan and the allotment of $60,000 toward repairs and restorations of the chapel.

Thank you to city staff, City Manager Mark Freitag, the city council and Mick Gilbertson for their support and help to bring our plans to fruition.

Our work has just begun, and we would like to begin by extending an invitation to anyone interested in joining our group. Weekly meetings are at 9 a.m. Mondays at the Olde Towne Mall, Suite 6, on South Main Street.

An official Friends of Oak Hill Chapel will be formalized with those wishing to be more active at the chapel and those who wish to support with membership only.

Our hearts have been truly warmed by the many, many donors who have come forward to donate to our initial efforts. We made over our goal of $40,000, and it is due to the generosity of the citizens of Janesville and even some former residents who heard of the project.

Thank you again to all as we go forward with your continued support of this wonderful project to maintain a piece of Janesville history and the families represented in Oak Hill Cemetery.
