October 27, 1955 - March 21, 2014

Daniel A. Mahoney, age 58, of Janesville, passed away Friday evening, March 21, 2014, at his home. He was born Oct. 27, 1955, in Ridgewood, Queens, NY, the son of the late Bernard and Patricia (Gledhill) Mahoney. He was married to the former Suzanne L. Fleming on July 6, 1984, in Aurora, IL. Dan worked for several companies in Janesville, retiring due to health issues from Freedom Plastics. He will be remembered and missed for being a great guy! He had a wonderful sense of humor, and always enjoyed making people laugh. Dan always wanted to work with young people, and was able to mentor many young men and women through rough times in their lives. He and Sue opened their home to many kids who needed a place to stay, or a receptive ear to listen! He was a very caring and generous man by nature.

Dan is survived by his wife, Sue; his five children: Michelle Cooper of Janesville, Gary (Becky) Anaral of Cambridge, WI, Michael (Jodi) Cooper of Milton, Robert (Jennifer) Adams of Winchester, VA, and Nicole Peterson of Janesville; his two daughters-in-law, Carrie Willi and Amy Cooper, both of Janesville; two brothers, Dennis (Maritza) Mahoney of Florida, and Kevin Mahoney of New York; two sisters, Kathy (Ken) Jannen and Terri Mahoney, both of South Florida; his 18 beloved grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and friends, including two very dear friends, Roger and Donna Cather, of Janesville. Besides his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Hollmann; and three brothers: Bobby, Richard, and Stephen Mahoney.

A Celebration of Life for Dan will take place from 1 until 5 P.M. this Saturday, March 29, 2014 at BOBBLEHEADS SPORTS BAR & GRILL, 2709 S. U.S. Hwy. 51 (Center Ave.) in Janesville.

Dan's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospice Care, and to two very dear people in Dan's life, Tricia Moen, and Dan's son, Gary, for their care, support, and love shown during Dan's final journey.
